What Claudeforce means if your team already runs on Salesforce

On August 26, Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce — an expanded partnership that puts Claude's reasoning directly inside Salesforce's platform and Salesforce's data directly inside Claude. For B2B teams that use both tools, this is the most consequential AI announcement in a while. Here's what it actually contains, and what it means in practice.

Two different things with one name

The coverage of this announcement is already conflating two distinct integrations. Claudeforce has two directions, and they're not the same thing:

  • Salesforce in Claude — a Plugin that brings your live Salesforce data and workflows into Claude, where sellers already work
  • Claude in Salesforce — Claude as the reasoning model powering Agentforce, Salesforce's agent platform, from inside the Salesforce Trust Boundary

These serve different buyers and different workflows. Understanding which one is relevant to you is the first step.

Salesforce in Claude: what it is and who it's for

Salesforce in Claude is a Plugin — installed once by a Salesforce admin — that gives your sales team access to their live Salesforce data and the ability to take governed actions in Salesforce directly from Claude. It launches with 37 prebuilt sales skills built by Salesforce and Anthropic together. These aren't generic CRM prompts. They're Claude Skills engineered to use Claude's reasoning over live revenue context: meeting prep that pulls open opportunities and account history before a call, deal health review that analyzes pipeline stage and activity signals, pipeline review that summarizes forecast and flags at-risk deals.

The setup model is the part that matters operationally: an admin connects Salesforce in Claude once, and every seller on the team gets access from day one. No per-user setup. No new permissions model to build. The Plugin routes all actions through Salesforce's own business rules, so anything a seller does through Claude stays within whatever governance the CRM already enforces.

This is for sellers who already live in Claude and want their Salesforce context there with them — rather than context-switching to the CRM to look up a deal stage before every call. It entered pilot in late August and open beta is expected in September 2026.

Claude in Salesforce: what it means for Agentforce customers

The second direction is for Salesforce customers who are building agents inside the Salesforce platform itself. Claude is now the reasoning model behind Agentforce — specifically the Atlas Reasoning Engine that powers Agentforce Coworker, Agentforce Vibes, and the Agent Builder environment. If you're configuring agents inside Salesforce today, you're configuring agents that reason with Claude.

This matters because the quality of reasoning in an Agentforce workflow now reflects Claude's actual capabilities — not a generic AI layer. For teams in regulated industries, Claude is available within the Salesforce Trust Boundary through Amazon Bedrock, which means the data and AI workloads stay within the governance Salesforce already provides.

This direction is less about sellers and more about the Salesforce admins and architects designing the agents. If that's your team, the implication is that prompting and workflow design decisions inside Agentforce now benefit from understanding how Claude actually reasons.

Slack: Claude as the default everywhere

The partnership also makes Claude the default model for Slackbot across Salesforce's platform. For teams that use Slack as a work environment alongside Salesforce, this connects the loop: Claude reasoning over Salesforce data in Claude, Claude reasoning inside Agentforce, and Claude powering Slackbot in the workspace where team decisions happen.

Slack Code is also part of the announcement, with Claude as a founding partner for collaborative coding in Slack. For engineering organizations — Salesforce says Claude Code is being rolled out to all of their own developers — this is an additional surface where Claude's reasoning is available in context.

What the prebuilt skills cover — and where they stop

The 37 prebuilt skills in Salesforce in Claude are designed for a generic enterprise sales workflow: meeting prep, deal review, pipeline management. For most large sales teams with standard Salesforce configurations, these will cover the most common queries.

They won't cover workflows that depend on your specific data model, custom objects, industry-specific terminology, or processes that cross into systems outside Salesforce. A commercial real estate team using Salesforce alongside a property management platform has context that no prebuilt skill will understand. A professional services firm whose deal cycle involves proposal stages and resourcing data that lives in a separate system has the same gap.

That's where a Claude Partner comes in. The prebuilt Plugin handles generic sales tasks. Custom Claude implementation handles the workflows that are specific to how your company actually runs — the deal structures, the data relationships, the decision points that don't map to a generic sales motion.

The Endurance Group is an Anthropic Claude Partner that builds Claude integrations for Salesforce customers who need to go beyond the Claudeforce Plugin. That means custom Skills that pull from industry-specific data sources alongside Salesforce, workflows that cross into non-Salesforce systems your team actually runs, and implementations built around your specific deal structure rather than a generic sales motion. When the prebuilt plugin covers 80% of what your team does and the other 20% is where your competitive edge lives, that remaining piece is what we build.

What to do right now

If your team uses Salesforce and Claude, Salesforce in Claude is worth getting on the pilot list for. The setup is designed to be low-friction, and 37 prebuilt skills is a real starting point for most sales teams. Open beta is expected this month.

If your team is running Agentforce or evaluating it, understanding that Claude is now the reasoning model behind Atlas changes how you should think about agent design. Prompting strategies, tool use patterns, and workflow structure decisions that work well with Claude translate directly to better Agentforce performance.

And if your workflows go beyond what the prebuilt skills cover — different data, different systems, different sales motion — that's the conversation to have with a Claude Partner before you assume the Plugin will handle it.
