Claude Now Builds Live Dashboards and Animations. Here's What Business Teams Should Do With Them.
AI AutomationsOn October 8, Anthropic launched two new beta tools for Claude, Dashboards and Motion, and moved Docs, Slides, and Design out of beta. Reuters covered the launch. The pitch is simple: help people analyze business data and produce visual content without writing code. If your team already lives in Claude, this changes what "ask Claude" can produce.

What did Anthropic launch for Claude on October 8, 2026?
Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards, a paid-plan beta that builds live dashboards from plain-language questions, and Claude Motion, a Team and Enterprise beta that makes editable animations exportable as MP4. It also moved Docs, Slides, and Design out of beta, making them available on every plan including Free.
Claude Dashboards: live data from a plain-English question
Dashboards is in beta on paid plans. You connect a data source, ask a question, and Claude builds a dashboard and keeps it current as the underlying data changes. The reported connectors include Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, and ClickHouse, and a CRM example like Salesforce opportunities was used in the launch coverage.
Two details matter for trust. You can click any number to see the query behind it, and each chart shows when its data was last refreshed. That is what separates a dashboard you can defend in a meeting from a screenshot of a chatbot answer. For deeper analysis, Claude can hand off to tools like Hex, Mixpanel, Grafana, Sigma, Amplitude, Omni, and PostHog, with Looker, monday.com, and Tableau listed as coming soon.
Claude Motion: editable animations, not AI video
Motion is a beta for Team and Enterprise plans. You describe what you want, for example a 30-second explainer of a quarterly report, and get an animation you can edit and download as an MP4. Per the launch coverage, it works by writing code that animates text, charts, shapes, and images. It does not use a video generation model, so there is no synthetic footage or AI-generated people, and every word, number, and timing stays editable. That makes it a better fit for business content than generated video, where a wrong number is baked into the pixels.
Docs, Slides, and Design are out of beta
These three are now available on every plan, including Free. Anthropic says more than 45 million docs, decks, and designs have been made in Claude. Teams and Claude can edit the same file together, and finished work can be shared outside your organization when an admin allows it. The standalone Claude Design site is being folded into the main Claude app and stays available until December 14.
What to do with this
1. Start with one recurring report. Pick the weekly pipeline or ops metric someone rebuilds by hand every Monday. That is the best test of whether Dashboards saves real time.
2. Use it for exploration, not as your system of record. Anthropic positions Dashboards for quick questions and says it works alongside existing analytics tools. Keep governed reporting where it is, and use Claude for the "what is going on with X?" questions that never got a proper dashboard.
3. Check admin settings before you promise anything. Reporting says that for Enterprise organizations, Dashboards and Motion are off by default, while Docs, Slides, and Design turn on by default on October 15. If you are on Enterprise, ask your admin before telling the team it is available.
4. Measure the outcome, not the novelty. The launch comes without published accuracy or adoption results, so verify the numbers against your source system on the first few runs. Faster is only valuable if it is right, which is the same point we make in saving time isn't the same as creating ROI.
A quick example
Say your sales lead wants to know which open opportunities have gone quiet. Today that usually means a request to whoever owns the CRM reports, a wait, and a spreadsheet. With Dashboards connected to the right data, the lead asks the question, gets a live view, and clicks into the numbers to confirm the logic. If the quarterly review needs a short visual summary, Motion can turn the same figures into an animated explainer the team edits before sharing. The value is fewer handoffs between the question and the answer, as long as the underlying data is clean.
Where this fits
None of this replaces the work of connecting Claude to your systems and deciding which questions matter. A dashboard is only as good as the data connection and definitions behind it. Frequently asked questions
What is Claude Dashboards?
Claude Dashboards is a beta feature on paid plans that builds live dashboards from plain-language questions. It connects to data sources such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, and ClickHouse, keeps the dashboard current as data changes, and lets you click any number to see the query behind it.
What is Claude Motion?
Claude Motion is a beta feature for Team and Enterprise plans that turns a prompt into an editable animation, such as a 30-second explainer of a quarterly report. It writes code to animate text, charts, shapes, and images rather than generating video footage, and the result can be downloaded as an MP4.
Are Claude Docs, Slides, and Design still in beta?
No. Anthropic moved Docs, Slides, and Design out of beta on October 8, 2026, and they are available on every Claude plan, including Free. The standalone Claude Design site is being folded into the main Claude app and stays available until December 14.
Will Claude Dashboards replace our BI tool?
Anthropic positions Dashboards for quick, exploratory questions and says it works alongside existing analytics tools, with hand-offs to products such as Hex, Mixpanel, Grafana, and Sigma. Treat it as a fast first look, not a replacement for governed reporting.
