What does Claude for Small Business do?

Claude for Small Business is a Claude Cowork plugin with 43 ready-made workflows that connect to tools like Shopify, Xero, Gusto, Square, Stripe, and Salesforce. It handles recurring jobs such as a weekly business brief, lead replies, proposals, and month-end close, and waits for owner approval before anything sends or pays. A partner still helps with choosing workflows, cleaning data, and training your team.

On September 15, Anthropic expanded Claude for Small Business to 43 workflows and added 27 new integrations, including Shopify, Salesforce, TikTok, Atlassian, Zoom, Xero, Gusto, Square, Stripe, and Zapier. Per Anthropic's announcement, the plugin has been installed more than 900,000 times since it launched in May. If you run a small company, this is the most directly useful Claude release in a while.

Here is what it does, and where a partner still earns their keep.

What Claude for Small Business actually is

It is a plugin for Claude Cowork that connects Claude to the tools a small business already runs on, then packages common jobs into ready-made workflows. It works across your accounting, payments, payroll, CRM, and communication tools, including HubSpot, QuickBooks, PayPal, Canva, DocuSign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365, alongside the new additions. It is available on every paid Claude plan, and Anthropic recommends a team plan for any business with more than one person.

The workflows worth knowing

A few that show the range:

Monday Brief pulls cash position, sales against last week, pipeline movement, and overdue invoices into one summary, plus the few things that need the owner. Speed to Lead qualifies inbound inquiries, drafts replies, and logs them to your CRM. Proposal Builder turns a voice memo or photos into a branded, priced proposal. Social Content Engine drafts posts, graphics, and review replies. Close Month reconciles accounts, flags mismatches, and assembles a close packet.

By default every workflow starts in approval mode. Claude drafts and stages the work, and nothing sends, posts, or pays until the owner approves it. That default is a sound one, and we would keep it on for anything that touches money or customers.

What owners are saying

Anthropic’s launch includes owner quotes. Cara Roellgen of KBSO Consulting calls Claude “an equalizer for small businesses, where we can do stuff as big as a 100 person, 200 person firm now.” That matches what we see: small teams get the most from removing repeated admin, because they have the fewest spare hands.

Where a partner still adds value

Installing the plugin takes minutes. Getting reliable value from it takes a few decisions the plugin cannot make for you. Anthropic’s own launch pairs the product with training programs and a list of consulting partners, which tells you setup is a real step. Our view, from the builds we do:

Choosing what to turn on. Forty-three workflows is a menu, not a plan. The right first one is the process with enough volume to matter and a clear owner, and a good partner will rank them by business value before anyone installs anything.

Getting your data ready. A Monday Brief is only as good as your books, and Speed to Lead is only as good as your CRM. If invoices are miscoded or contacts are duplicated, the workflow reports the mess faster. Cleaning that up first is unglamorous and decides whether the output is trusted.

Encoding how you actually work. Your pricing logic, your tone with customers, your rules for when a quote needs a second look. These live in people’s heads. A partner turns them into instructions and examples so the proposals sound like you and price like you.

Setting the right approval rules. Approval mode is the default, but you will want some steps to run on their own once they have earned trust. Deciding which, and under what limits, is a judgment call worth making deliberately.

Getting your team to use it. A workflow nobody opens saves nothing. Short, hands-on training with your real tasks is what turns a plugin into a habit.

Measuring and maintaining. Integrations change, models update, and your business shifts. Someone should be checking that the workflows still do what you need and that the time saved is real.

When you can do it yourself

If you are a one- or two-person shop with tidy tools, start on your own. Install the plugin, turn on one workflow, keep approval mode on, and see what it saves you in a month. We would rather you start than wait. Bring in help when the data is messy, when more than a couple of people will rely on it, or when the workflow touches money, customers, or compliance.

If you want a place to start, You already have Claude, now what? walks through picking a first process, and our guide to choosing between Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 covers which model to use for which job.

Frequently asked questions

What is Claude for Small Business?

Claude for Small Business is a plugin for Claude Cowork that connects Claude to the tools a small business already uses and packages common jobs into ready-made workflows, such as a weekly Monday Brief, lead response, proposal building, social content, and month-end close. Anthropic expanded it to 43 workflows on September 15, 2026.

Which tools does Claude for Small Business connect to?

Anthropic added 27 integrations in the September 15 update, including Shopify, Salesforce, TikTok, Atlassian, Zoom, Xero, Gusto, Square, Stripe, and Zapier. They join existing connections such as HubSpot, QuickBooks, PayPal, Canva, DocuSign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365.

Will Claude send emails or pay invoices on its own?

Not by default. Every workflow starts in approval mode, where Claude drafts and stages the work and waits for the owner to approve before anything sends, posts, or pays.

Do I need a partner to set up Claude for Small Business?

Not always. A small team with clean data can start with one workflow on its own. A partner helps most when your data needs cleanup, when several people will rely on the workflows, or when they touch money, customers, or compliance.
