How to use Claude with HubSpot: a free plugin for deals, tasks, and meeting prep
Sales ExecutionShort answer: connect the HubSpot connector in Claude, then give Claude a set of Skills that tell it how your team actually uses the CRM. The connector gives Claude access. The Skills give it judgment: which pipeline a deal belongs in, that "remind me" means a HubSpot task and not a calendar event, and what to pull before a sales call. We packaged the Skills we use every day into a free plugin called the HubSpot CRM Toolkit.
TEG is an official member of the Anthropic Claude Partner Network. We build Claude Skills, plugins, and MCP integrations for B2B teams. See our full Claude services.
Why the connector alone isn't enough
Once HubSpot is connected, Claude can read and write CRM records. What it can't do out of the box is guess your conventions. Ask it to "remind me to follow up with Sam on Thursday" and there's a good chance you get a calendar event, a to-do in the chat, or a question back. None of those land where your team actually works. We hit that exact annoyance ourselves, which is why the first Skill we wrote was the one that turns reminders into properly linked HubSpot tasks.
A plugin fixes that by bundling small, focused Skills that load automatically when the request matches. You keep talking normally. Claude does the CRM work the way a well-trained coordinator would.
What the HubSpot CRM Toolkit does
- Create deals. "Create a deal for Acme." Claude reads your pipelines and stages from your account, picks the stage from context or asks, finds or creates the contact and company, and links everything together.
- Task reminders. "Remind me to follow up with Sam in three days." Claude finds Sam, pulls his company and open deals, and creates one HubSpot task associated with all of them. It never invents a due date.
- Meeting prep. "Prep me for my call with Sam." A snapshot of the contact, company, deals, open tasks, recent notes, and activity, plus a suggested agenda and talking points, using only what's in HubSpot.
- Pipeline review. "How's my pipeline?" Open deals by stage, with stalled, past-due, and incomplete deals flagged and next moves recommended.
- Log call notes. Paste your notes and say "log this." Claude writes a clean note on the right records, creates follow-up tasks for action items, and only proposes a stage change when the notes clearly support it.
- CRM cleanup. "Audit my contacts." Duplicates, missing fields, formatting problems, and orphaned records, proposed as fixes in a confirmation table. It never deletes or merges anything.
- Weekly sales digest. "Weekly sales recap." New deals, wins, losses, stalls, and overdue tasks for the week, and it can be set up as a recurring scheduled task in your Claude account.
Guardrails built in
CRM data is shared, so a sloppy write is worse than no write. The toolkit asks for confirmation before it writes to HubSpot. Pipeline, stage, and owner IDs are always looked up from your own portal, never hardcoded. Claude doesn't invent contact details, deal amounts, or dates you didn't give it. And nothing in the plugin deletes or merges records.
What you need
- A Claude plan that supports plugins.
- The HubSpot connector, connected and authorized in your Claude workspace.
- HubSpot permissions to read and create deals, contacts, companies, notes, and tasks. Claude can only do what your HubSpot user can do.
How to get it
We don't post the plugin as a download. Instead, book a free 30-minute session and we'll send it to you, install it with you, confirm the HubSpot connection, and run a couple of the Skills on your real pipeline before we hang up. It's yours to keep, and it's free. If your team uses HubSpot differently than most (custom objects, multiple pipelines, strict stage rules), that's a good thing to bring to the call too.
Frequently asked questions
Can Claude connect to HubSpot?
Yes. HubSpot offers a connector for Claude that lets Claude read and write CRM records with your HubSpot user's permissions. Once it is connected, a plugin like the HubSpot CRM Toolkit tells Claude how to use it for everyday work such as creating deals, tasks, and call notes.
How do I make Claude create HubSpot tasks instead of calendar reminders?
Install a Skill that tells Claude to treat 'remind me' and 'create a task' requests about a contact as HubSpot tasks. The task-reminder Skill in our free HubSpot CRM Toolkit does this and associates the task with the contact, their company, and open deals.
Will Claude change my HubSpot data without asking?
Not with this plugin. The HubSpot CRM Toolkit asks for confirmation before writing to HubSpot, looks up pipelines and stages from your own account, and never deletes or merges records.
How much does the HubSpot CRM Toolkit cost?
It is free, and so is the 30-minute session where we install it and set it up with you.
